Culminating in an exceptional vintage is very LAN
It means to save oneself, on extraordinary occasions, for something unique, limited and as special as its very nature.
85% Tempranillo and 15% Graciano grapes, hand-harvested from 40 to 60 year-old vines planted in our “Pago El Rincón” plot, located within the “Viña Lanciano” estate. The grapes are manually selected in our two sorting tables; only those grains in perfect sanitary and ripeness conditions are allowed into the next phase of vinification.
De-stemmed and lightly crushed, the grapes are fermented in small, temperature-controlled, stainless steel tanks at a high temperature to obtain maximum aromatic extraction. Malolatic fermentation took place in new 225 l. French oak barriques from the Tronçais and Jupille forests.
24 months in new French oak barrels from the Tronçais and Allier forests, followed by 20 months of rounding in the bottle in the perfect temperature and humidity conditions of our cellar.
Intense and bright cherry-red colour. Elegant and layered nose, with a bouquet that combines ripe red fruit, blackberries, hints of pastries and balsamic aromas (fennel, liquorice). Smoked wood and spice (nutmeg and cinnamon) from its aging in oak. Also appreciated are the earthy and mineral notes characteristic of all the wines made from grapes sourced from the Viña Lanciano estate. Structured, its powerful and fleshy mouthfeel gives way to a long and persistent finish.
Ideal for roasted meats as well as blue and cured cheeses. Suitable for long meals and when combined with sweet desserts.
Serve at 17º – 19º C (62º – 66º F).
Available in 75 and 150 cl size.
Culmen is only made during vintages of outstanding quality.
